Welcome:
Note: The website is
being revised to support recent changes in the organization and
purpose of the group. Until this is completed, there may
be inconsistencies between some of the pages.
This website is part of the
Co-Conspirators : Crime Fiction Writers meetup group.
'Co-Conspirators' is a network of serious crime fiction writers,
many of
whom live in and around Cary, NC. However, membership is open to all crime
fiction writers, regardless of geographic location, who would like to participate in
E-Review/E-Critiquing. Attendance at the local meetings is
optional.
Although we meet
occasionally, the primary purpose of the group is to share and
critique each other's writing over the Internet. This website will be used to post, read and
critique writing samples and to exchange general information on
crime fiction writing.
Co-Conspirators uses the
scheduling and message capabilities of Meetup.com and all
writers must be a member of the Co-Conspirators meetup group.
A direct link to the meetup group is available in 'Membership'.
Membership in
Co-Conspirators is limited to serious crime fiction
writers who have been published or whose intention is to someday
be published. Members must be actively working on a crime
fiction novel.
Membership is
limited to 8 to 10 writers who have demonstrated their writing
skills and commitment to the group. Potential new members
must submit a writing sample for review. If their level of
achievement is acceptable, they will be given a six-month
membership which may be extended by the current members.
New members and existing members not fulfilling their
obligations will be asked to step down.
The
'Members' portion of the website will be password
protected and only members are able to read the
writing samples of the membership.
On a pre-scheduled
basis, two writers will submit writing samples each month and
each submission must be a minimum of 50 pages (12 pt,
double-spaced) but can be up to 100 pages, allowing us to see
the strengths and weaknesses in development. The entire
membership will critique each submission. Submissions will
be 'posted' on this website, 'password-protected' and only
available for reading by the members.
Note:
Until the website is fully
tested/functional, password protection is not active.
E-Critiques are confidential and will be
emailed directly to the author by each member.
Peer review is an excellent way to improve
your writing skills. The price: a willingness to read and
critique the writing of others. If you are interested in
becoming a Co-Conspirator, please contact the
Editor.
